Overwhelm management strategies

As women, we face more pressure than ever before. We wear a variety of hats daily and must switch and adapt roles and focus at a moment’s notice. We must be the master’s at organising the home, deciding what’s for dinner, is the school uniform washed, plus friends and family demands, business goals and commitments, not to mention meeting our own basic needs to maintain health and happiness.

With so many mental tabs constantly open, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and not know how to juggle and create balance in both your health, personal and business life.

Very often, we are so busy managing everyone else that we have little time to step back and reevaluate the bigger picture. We have strategies or plans in place for things like home improvements, holidays, business, but rarely do we ever sit down and think about a strategy to evolve our life and achieve the desired outcomes in relationships, family, and most importantly, health.

This seems contradictory as our health is the cornerstone of everything, it gives us the ability to perform in our various roles and ultimately feeds our happiness and fulfilment in the life we create.

At Health for Wealth, we work with individuals to create a strategy for life wealth. We break everything down and identify the areas in need of focus and attention, with health at the heart of everything we do.

Tips for Coping with Overwhelm

When faced with a million things to do and thoughts running around our brains, it is hard to know where to start or unjumble all the thoughts into bite-sized chunks that we can sort through and then act.

We feel frozen, overwhelmed, we procrastinate, we may get anxious, and this can impact our sleep, appetite, energy levels, and mental clarity.

Turning down the volume on the mental “noise” is key for maintaining ‘Life Wealth” and good health. So, how do we do this when we feel stressed and under pressure, how do we create space to think things through and keep the balance?

Follow these simple but powerful steps consistently for a month, and you will feel calmer, more in control and in a more balanced place.

1. Write it down, get it out of your head.

2. Get outside twice a day for 20 mins, get sunshine and fresh air

3. Actively reduce your screen time at night, have do not disturb set, turn off notifications

4. Pick 3 things from your list to prioritise, one of them must be for yourself

5. Sleep hygiene, reduce caffeinated drinks throughout the day and consider a mindfulness app or meditation

6. Hydrate well throughout the day and focus on fuelling mind and body with nourishing food
